English Setter Club - ATV
As a result of recent heavy rains, the Club grounds have sustained excessive damage from significant ATV/UTV usage. Additionally, over an inch of rain is forecast for this coming Saturday. There is a level of personal responsibility for members training on the ATV/UTV's as it relates to using discretion on when to go out, and where to go. There are certain areas of the grounds that hold water more than others. Also, there are trails that the ATV/UTV's are intended to be used. The Board finds it necessary to remind all Members to use good judgment and common sense when using the grounds whether with ATV/UTV’s, on horseback, or on foot.
At the next meeting on April 15, 2024, the Board will begin the process of reviewing policies and procedures for ATV/UTV usage. This could include limiting where usage is permitted, size of units, and policies that could include restricting usage to certain areas, and possibly closure of the grounds as may be necessary from time to time to protect and enhance the condition of the grounds.
In the meantime, Members are encouraged to continue to use the Club grounds in an appropriate, responsible and safe manner. Please use good discretion for when and where ATV/UTV's are driven, including avoiding wet areas and limiting traffic to trails to every extent possible. Member input on this important issue is encouraged.
Thank you,
Board of Directors
